Grant Hoerr

After a dominant career at Morton High School, Grant Hoerr went on to become one of the nation’s best intercollegiate wrestlers, competing for the University of Wisconsin. Wrestling at 125 pounds as a Morton junior in 1996 and 130 pounds as a senior in 1997, Grant went undefeated in 82 matches, winning IHSA Class AA state championships both seasons. He compiled 803 takedowns in his career, including 308 his senior season. Grant finished his prep career with a record of 153-7, and as a senior, he earned All-America honors from the National High School Coaches Association after placing seventh at the Senior Nationals. At Wisconsin, Grant competed in the 141-pound division and twice was named the Badgers’ Most Improved Wrestler. He qualified for the NCAA nationals three times and placed fourth in 2001. In 2018, Grant was inducted into the Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association Hall of Fame.
