Hall of Fame partners with Riverfront Museum

The Greater Peoria Sports Hall of Fame and Peoria Riverfront Museum have formed a collaborative partnership to shine a brighter spotlight on the rich sports history of Central Illinois. Announcement of the partnership was made during the Hall of Fame induction ceremonies on March 23.

A series of exhibitions is planned to debut this summer, focusing on area Legends who went on to make significant impact on the national and international sports stages. Monthly articles in the Museum’s various newsletters will add yet another dimension to the storytelling.

The Greater Peoria Sports Hall of Fame annually inducts individuals and teams. But only so much of their stories can be told in 200 words on a plaque. There are also many individuals who contributed to the area sports scene and beyond who are not eligible for the Hall of Fame ballot because they do not meet residency requirements.

The Peoria Riverfront Museum, located one block from the Illinois River in Downtown Peoria, is the only multidisciplinary institution of its kind in the nation. It is perfectly positioned for such in-depth storytelling.

This partnership will enhance visibility for the Greater Peoria Sports Hall of Fame while achieving the Peoria Riverfront Museum’s goals to inspire confidence, life-long learning and talent.
